All-Natural Tips to Ease Wrist Pain at Home

Hand-Pain-Black-and-WhiteMany people these days, whether you work with your hands or work on a computer, experience problems with their wrists. Wrist issues can cause actual pain in the wrist itself, weakness in the hands or grip, or even numbness/tingling in the hands like carpal tunnel.

These symptoms are typically caused by overuse syndromes, joint dysfunction, and trauma. If you are experiencing any of these issues, it is important that you are evaluated by a professional and seek proper treatment.

The following is a list of tips to help alleviate wrist pain at home:

1. Mobility Exercises. You can slowly move the wrist up and down, side to side, and in a figure 8 fashion to ensure the wrist is moving properly and through its entire range of motion. This should be performed to tolerance and not be painful.

2. Wrist distraction. Here you can grab the affected wrist and pull straight out to allow some gapping in the joint. Once again this should be done slowly and to tolerance. This should not be painful.

3. Ice. Apply and ice pack over a towel on the affected area for no longer than 15 min.

If there is no change in symptoms after performing these tips, seek professional help in order to have the issue properly diagnosed.

Many times, these issues are caused by the bones in the wrist becoming misaligned and throwing off the mechanics of the joint itself and irritating the surround soft tissue or nerves. With correcting the joint mechanics, many of the issues improve greatly or are resolved.
